Your Guide to: Chincoteague, VA.

For the past two years, I’ve been traveling down to Chincoteague, VA. for Memorial Day Weekend with Erick and his friends. They have been spending MDW down in Virginia since they’ve been in high school. It is amazing how they’ve created such a fun yearly tradition. And I’m so happy I now get to be a part of it!

Chincoteague, VA. is a small island known for it’s wild horses that roam throughout the island. Most of the restaurants and shops are located on the main street which makes them easy to access.

Where to Eat & Drink

Black Narrows Brewery

For a refreshing beer, stop by Black Narrows! They offer a handful of different beers that you can sip on while sampling oysters gathered from around the island.

Pico Taqueria

These small tacos from Pico Taqueria pack a punch! My favorites are the The Deep Hole with cauliflower roasted to perfection, and The Ridge with carne asada and pickled hot peppers.

AJ’s on the Creek

If you are craving a fun brunch, definitely check out AJ’s. The mimosa flight was delicious and paired perfectly with my cheesy mushroom omelet.

Where to Stay

Staying on the waterfront in Chincoteague is a definite must. I loved waking up in the morning and seeing the view from my window. It’s just so peaceful and reminds me of how I grew up on a pond. This past MDW, we stayed on the northern part of the island overlooking the bay at a rental called the Hidden Treasure. The island was pretty busy, so I suggest booking your rental out far in advance, especially if you are going with a large group. The island has so many beautiful rentals, you really can’t go wrong!
